Global Heart, Stroke Health and the Role of Vitamin C

Health data compiled from more than 190 countries show heart disease remains the No. 1 global cause of death with 17.3 million deaths each year, according to Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics — 2015 Update: A Report from the American Heart Association. That number is expected to rise to more than 23.6 million by 2030.

Stroke remains the No. 2 cause of death in the world. The stroke death rate — the number of deaths per 100,000 people — went down between 1990 and 2010. However, the number of people having first and recurrent strokes each year went up, reaching 33 million in 2010.

Alarming Statistics in the Philippines

Each year, 170,000 Filipinos die from cardiovascular diseases, up from 85,000 more than 20 years ago (DOH, 2009).

These are the deaths that do not make headlines, but diseases of the heart and the vascular system have remained the top two causes of death in the country since 1993.

Vitamin C for Heart Disease

A growing body of evidence show that intake of Vitamin C is linked to a decrease risk of heart disease. Dr. James Enstrom (University of California) studied the vitamin intake of over 11,000 people for 10 years. He found that 300mg of vitamin C a day reduced risk of heart disease by 50 percent in men and 40 percent in women.

“Low levels of vitamin C in the blood are linked to a more severe form of peripheral artery disease, an often painful condition in which the leg blood vessels become blocked.” - Circulation Journal of the American Heart Association

Dr. Linus Pauling’s Non-prescription Cure

"I think we can get almost complete control of
cardiovascular disease, heart attacks and strokes
by the proper use of (Vitamin C) ... even cure it."

PS: Pauling’s specific therapy for cardiovascular and heart diseases are high dosage of this essential nutrient called Vitamin C. It is clear that the fruits (i.e., mango, calamansi, pineapple, papaya and guava) rich in Vitamin C in SJ5 is necessary for vascular health. It is also recommended that you take HCI CMD and CBF for you to achieve optimum nutrition.

Detox from Environmental Toxins

If you are endlessly tired, irritable, have trouble losing weight, or feel depressed, you might be suffering from the environmental onslaught of air, water and soil toxins. If you aren’t sure whether you are suffering from toxic overload, you can at least be certain you are not immune to the toxic effects of environmental pollution.

Now is the time to take an offensive, instead of defensive, view of our health.

Trace Minerals Are Vital

Support the liver and gallbladder with trace minerals iron, magnesium, zinc and calcium for healthy detoxification and better elimination. Trace mineral selenium, a natural detoxifying substance, can also help the body get rid of pesticides and other harmful toxins.

Eat more fiber! When we eat fiber, the liver can more easily flush toxins through the digestive system and we take an immense load off an organ that is constantly trying to get rid of toxic substances from the body. High fiber foods include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, potatoes (including their skin), etc.

Vitamins Are Important Too!

Increasing your levels of Vitamin C is so good for you, and detoxing the body that it was found this vitamin could help reduce levels of radiation exposure (even in people who were living near Fukushima, Japan).

Vitamins B3, B6, C, and beta-catoene, are important nutrients for supporting the liver and gallbladder in making bile acids which support detox. Consume more of B5 vitamin, which can help open blockages created by pesticide consumption. When we are too clogged with pesticides our bodies cannot naturally detoxify themselves.

Sea Veggies Are Superb

Consuming Chlorella and Spirulina helps to detox the body due to their high levels of antioxidants and support liver decongestion. These super foods are full of fiber and Omega 3s, both important substances for detoxification. They also offer the largest range of vital trace minerals that can help to clean the blood.

Eating sea vegetables helps to absorb toxins form the digestive tract (in much the same way that water softener removes hardness from tap water) so they can be eliminated more easily.

Drink More Water & Exercise!

Drink more purified water! Water is one of the most vital ways of self-purification. It helps every single cell get rid of waste and allows us to excrete toxins through our urine and bowels, as well as through our skin via sweat.

Exercising and staying active is vital to keeping impurities out of the body. Just 30 minutes to an hour every day brings oxygen rich blood to the liver and kidneys, thus supporting them in detoxifying the body.

Obesity Is Now Reaching Crisis Proportions

More than 2.1 billion people globally or nearly 30 percent of the world's population are NOW overweight or obese, with the figure set to rise further by 2030.

Obesity is now blamed for around 5 percent of all deaths worldwide and costing the global economy $2 trillion in healthcare and lost productivity -- or 2.8 percent of global GDP.

In the Philippines, 22.3 percent of Filipino adults are overweight and 6.1 percent are obese. The prevalence of overweight Filipinos is expected to increase significantly by 2015, which means more health problems ahead. If this trend continues, it is highly likely that more will suffer from high risk diseases that could lead to death.

BEING Obese Is A Bigger Health Risk

Studies show that obesity not only increases health risks but also reduces life expectancy. In obesity, the volume of blood circulating around the body increases. The ultimate effect on the heart is a thickening of the heart muscle and enlargement of the left ventricle.

Hypertension is typically linked to obesity due to high fat and sodium intake in the diet and insulin insensitivity.

Cancer of the endometrium, cervix, ovary, breast, and prostrate has been shown to be more prevalent in patients who are clinically obese.  The frequency of gall bladder disease increases as weight increases, with gallstones occurring three to four times more often in the obese compared to those with normal weights.

Drastic Action Is Needed! Say goodbye to unwanted extra weight and rock the fat away! Lose weight and gain life with HCI CMD, CBF and SJ5.

ACIDIC LIFESTYLE: BPO-Call Center Agents

BPO-CALL CENTER AGENTS earn more than most of their peers in other industries, but face higher health risk with abnormal sleeping habits and habitual drinking activities.

A study from the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) reveals that on average, BPO-call center workers get 6.2 hours of sleep per day. These young workers are regular coffee drinkers more than 2 cups daily. They also drink soda and energy drinks daily, with an average of 1.5 bottles per day. They have high level consumption of chips, burgers, fries and fried chicken. More female BPO-call center workers skip meals. Majority consume 1-2 cigarette sticks during office breaks and regularly consume alcohol.

Healthy Lifestyle Choices

BPO-Call Center Agents are at high risk of developing unfavorable health conditions and for that they need special care that will keep them healthy in spite of the stressful work conditions.  Here are some health tips:
  1. Hydrate by drinking lots of water, but stay away from cold water.
  2. Stay away from Caffeinated drinks  and Cigarettes!
  3. Sleep is the only way for the body to re-energize and recuperate.
  4. Learn to relax when under stress. Take quick stretch breaks.
  5. Find time to exercise.Sweat those excess fats out of your body.
  6. Balanced Meals – that is the key to optimum health.
  7. Take the right supplements!  I am a fan of HCI CMD, CBF and SJ5 for energy, vitality and over-all health.

Diabetes in the Philippines at Alarming Rate

Diabetes cases in the Philippines are increasing at alarming rate. Health experts warned that there will be some 6.16 million diabetic Filipinos by 2030. In 2010, there were 3.4 million diabetes cases in the country, representing a prevalence rate of 7.7 percent.
Citing data from the World Health Organization and International Diabetes Foundation, by 2030, the prevalence rate is projected to rise to 8.9 percent.
This will be a big problem that we Filipinos will encounter in 2030. We already have a big problem at present what more about 16 years from now? Our hands will be full in tackling this problem.
A Serious Problem Worldwide
Diabetes is now a growing global epidemic. The numbers are increasing. In 2011 there were 360 million diabetics worldwide. We will have more than 550 million by 2030.
According to a fact sheet, diabetes is “a serious, lifelong disease and is a disorder of metabolism — the way our body uses the food we eat for growth and energy.” This condition is commonly known as having high glucose or sweetness in the blood.
Diabetes, however, is associated with long-term complications like blindness, heart and blood vessel disease, kidney failure, amputation of limbs, nerve damage, and stroke.
Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90 percent of all cases in the Philippines. Type 2 which is associated with lifestyle and gestational diabetes, a condition that affects pregnant women during pregnancy.
To curb the trend and to minimize the ill effects of diabetes, everyone must “work on prevention and proper management of cases.”

Walking Reduces Risk of Diabetes, High Blood Pressure

People who take walking as a form of exercise are 40% less likely to have diabetes. Moreover, walking is highly associated with lower risk of being overweight.

Studies also reveal that people who walk to work were also 17% less likely than people who drive to have high blood pressure.

Thus, people could reduce their risks of serious health problems such as diabetes and heart attacks by taking walking as a form of exercise. Building physical activity into the daily routine by walking, is good for personal health.
